30/07/04 - Glapwell 2 mansfield town xI 0: glapwell see off Young stags' challenge

A brace from Glapwell's Jamie Morgan was enough to see off the challenge of a youthful Mansfield Town XI in this entertaining pre-season friendly at Hall Corner tonight.

Glapwell took the lead on 22 minutes, Jamie Morgan picking himself up and dusting himself off after being pulled down in the box to score a cheeky penalty, which he lobbed straight down the middle, up and over the young Stags' keeper and into goal via the underside of the crossbar.

And it was Morgan who doubled Glapwell's advantage just three minutes into the second half, the home side's number eleven volleying the ball into the visitors' net at the far post from 12 yards off Aaron Shelley's flick-on header, from Jay Bonser's long throw into the box from the right.

Yet Glapwell didn't have it all their own way, the hard-working Stags' youngsters creating several good scoring opportunities throughout the game, the best of which coming in the dying seconds that brought a fine save out of substitute keeper Neil West.
